Why do I have these

Hot flashes and why can't I cool myself no matter how low the air conditioning? These little quick bursts of over heating just start and I feel like I am going to just sweat and have a cold sweat at the same time lol. I am not going to use synthetic hormones so any way that I can get through these flashes will have to be natural. Let's just say I will be glad when this phase of my life will be over.

I was having problems with this for a period of time. It's hard to pinpoint the direct cause, but some causes can be hormonal, hot weather, hot or spicy food, alcohol, and caffeine.

I so agree with you on the food being a cause also. If I eat too much sweets I notice they are worse. I can't do caffeine anymore because it was giving me problems and I even have to watch the Chocolate Sweepstakes & Giveaways. I know for me most of it is hormonal. I just refuse to use any synthetic hormone so I will just deal with them.

The above article suggests certain vitamins.

Great article and I have used the progesterone cream before. I started reading the site and will read more. Thanks for the site. I can tell you I will be so glad when this phase of my life has phased out lol.

I do have a hormone disorder which I usually take the birth control pill, Tri-Levlin, for; but I do drink alot of caffeine, and there could be other factors. I was mainly getting night sweats, and they were horrible; because I just couldn't get any sleep.

Oh my gosh no joke. I wake up and have to change clothes. I go turn the air to 70 and I still sweat lol. The good thing for me is that they last for only about 5 to 10 minutes. Of course then I have them about 3 to 4 times a day or maybe more. I am all about taking the right amount of vitamins and minerals and I excercise so I know that helps a lot.

for a while there alcohol was totally off limits to me.
one glass of wine and I would be sweating for the rest of the night!

That was a total bummer.

z.

I go turn the air to 70 and I still sweat lol.

70? I usually have mine at 66 or 68!LOL

Alcohol is definitely a big, big factor. Every person I ever saw drunk was sweating buckets. Look at Ted Kennedy. He was always sitting there in Congress red-faced and sweating! :crazytongue:

Z are you done with this mess yet lol? I am just now starting and I hope it doesn't take years to finish. My mom and sisters all have had hysterectomy's so I don't have anyone to decide what age they started this phase.

It's different for everyone. I had children into my 40's. So, I suspect I won't be going through it any time soon in the coming years.

I just can't wait til it's all over and begin the best years of my life. I really do think once I get past this I will be so glad to not have any more hormonal issues.

UPDATE in researching this topic I believe I found some help.

9 WAYS TO KNOW IF YOU HAVE "ESTROGEN ISSUES"

1. Everyone around you has an attitude problem.
2. You're adding chocolate chips to your cheese omelet.
3. The dryer has shrunk every last pair of your jeans.
4. Your husband is suddenly agreeing to everything you say.
5. You're using your cellular phone to dial up every bumper sticker that says, "How's my driving? Call 1-800-***-****."
6. Everyone's head looks like an invitation to batting practice.
7. You can't believe they don't make a tampon bigger than Super Plus.
8. You're sure that everyone is scheming to drive you crazy.
9. The ibuprofen bottle is empty and you bought it yesterday.

That was cute.

I hope you do find some much needed help soon, I still have awhile until I have to go through this.

:sunny: I sure don't miss going thru that. I took soy isoflavines and flaxseed oil. There are other herbal remedies. That helped me. Never did hormone therapy. Luckily it doesn't get too hot here so it wasn't too bad except at night. I sleep well with just a sheet and no blankets. That's another reason that dh and I don't sleep together. He loves a pile of blankets and flannel sheets.

Hey miki I am at least happy that I don't have a period right now but that could change cause I never know when or where it may start

Pam do you have any suggestions as to how much soy and flaxseed to use? I did find some herbs that so far seem to help . The usual evening primrose, black cohash and so on. The other night I had night sweats so bad I thought the dog had peed in the bed

Red I feel bad for you cause you can't take anything for the sweats.

:sunny: For all the great benefits (there are many) of soy isoflavines see:

It is better to get it thru food or soy powders, but I have always used capsules. You can also read about the Flaxseed on the same page click on that articles on the right side towards the top under related articles.

Everyone is different so what works for one person may not work for another. You just have to try different things to see what works for you.

I hope you find whats right for you without too much trial and error.

Thanks Pam :) I have tried drinking soy milk and I just can't get used to it. Even the vanilla flavored one. Chocolate is ok though. I also like the baco burgers.

I will be glad when I feel like I have it all under control. Thanks to everyone who had great suggestions. I am checking out all my options but I won't take HRT'S.
