completelyme - you nailed it, too. the eminent domain one is the law that scares me the most.

I just read something that has me thinking that a good candidate isn't far away from McCain. He should dump Palin and put his wife on the ticket. Cindy McCain seems to have a decent take on all of this, she holds similar beliefs, but understands the need to not make them the only way. Don't get tripped up by the last paragraph, they didn't write it well. She was saying that she believed in teaching abstinence, but felt that both views on the topic should be discussed in sex ed, to be FAIR to all:

Just like the elections ~ I really didn't like either one

 but you have to make adecisionn for the country. It's your duty.

None of us here will change the other person's mind  We have pretty much decided who we will vote for.

See, I'm just babbling...I don't know what I am talking about, so I share with everyone

you are not babbling. You are stating your opinion. just like everyone else has. just because we wont change anyone's mind doesnt mean we cant still discuss this issue.

I agree so let's discuss  I support McCain because I think he has shown that he is capable of running the country through his past experiences and his character. I don't just base my decission for POTUS on religious beliefs but that does play a part in it. McCain does not change his mind at the direction that the wind blows. Obama has lied about taking public financing and he has moved more center now than his far left stance.

If we base our voting decision on who we think will be the better person then we have done our best. I am not liberal and do not believe in liberal choices. Politics is corrupt but we can sit back and do nothing or we can have a voice and vote.

Some here say they don't want the government telling them what to do with their bodies but they want the government teaching their kids about sex. I think that's a little contradictory. Personally I don't think the abortion issue should be in politics just as I don't think sex ed should be a government issue either. However christianity is a big part of what America is. Obama himself claims to be christian.

Well this is enough to start with

so you are saying that children are supposed to figure out what sex is all about on their own? How so? By watching hippos bumping uglies? You just agreed with LDS that children aren't mentally mature enough to make those decisions. I'm confused

No, I don't want the government telling me what to do with my body, but I do want them to allow sex ed in school so parents and teachers together can offer the power of sexual knowledge to our children. There IS a difference.

Leave the religious beliefs at the door and out of politics. If we did that, social conservatives wouldn't have anything to run on, though. And I do agree. Conservatives shouldn't be using abortion rights to enact laws that are unconstitutional.

It's not just Wal-Mart. The school district where I lived in Pennsylvania used Eminent Domain to force out a man and his wife who refused to sell and lived in their house for a very long time. If I remember right, he ended up with only $25,000. They needed the land to put up their "campus". The school already had more than enough room and had more than they realistically needed, but they just wanted "more".

There is a lot of work to be done in our government and I hope we can move in the right direction. With our economy and terrorist threats and our needing to find more ways to provide energy we have a lot to think about when voting this year.

I will say that I can stomach Cindy on that issue. I watched an interview with her last night and she doesn't agree with Palin on the abortion issue, and I liked how she was for the fairness of both. I appreciated her being so honest about it.

McCain scares the hell outta me. He himself said he has agreed and backed Bush on 90% of what Bush has done. That alone would keep me from voting for McCain. That's the last thing America needs is another 4 years of Bush BS LOL

And LDS, that's what I'm saying!! Spot on!! Hubby's boss had grown up in that house. He has raised his children in that house and he was forced to sell it for around that...$25K. I cried my eyes out when he came over to visit. He cried like a baby. It was utterly heart-wrenching.

No worries after thinking about it you may come up with a fav. Now I have to go work out  I'll be back later for more discussion.

In my opinion, voting for McCain is definately not going to help our economy. Takes breaks for the rich and little help for the poor. What about the children whose parents can't afford health care? What about the audacity of the insurance companies who won't pass payment for life-saving procedures and who leave people to die of diseases, ailments, and conditions that are treatable? What about the pharmaceutical companies who want to continue charging an arm and a leg(almost literally) for prescription meds and who do not want regulations brought upon them? All lining McCain's deep pockets.

I am really not happy with either choice, just like Ping. Both of them have bad ideas that scare me.

I really wish that comedian Lewis Black would get into politics. He is so darn good at seeing the absurdity in the way things are run.

I am going to say bye for now too. I am feeling like poo.

Speaking of which, another plus for Obama, he understands the rationale behind medical Marijuana.

That is about the only bright spot I see in this mess. I am in constant pain that makes even lying down uncomfortable, and sitting in the computer chair agony after about an hour. Right now, in the past 4 days, I have slept a total of 3-1/2 hours because the pain either wakes me up or makes it impossible to sleep. I also have nausea about 60% of the time.

I cannot take pain medication. Opiates make me violently vomit for several hours after taking. The only thing I have ever found that takes away the pain and nausea and doesn't make me sick in some other way is pot.

I wish for the day that I can take something which is completely natural, cures my symptoms, relieves my depression, and does not have nasty, damaging side effects, without being scared I am going to go to jail.

Sorry you are in such bad pain and I hope it gets better for you.

Govenor Palin is doing a wonderful job on the campaign trail. Polls speak for themselves this week as to how well the McCain/Palin ticket are doing. I believe she has more experience than Obama does and I am enjoying this election process. Sure people will feel she is not qualified but just as many and apparently more feel she is.

I am liking the whole approach the McCain campaign is taking. A position of country first. I am honestly thinking McCain will win this thing.
