Senator Joe Biden

Well he likes McCain so that's a plus. He had a rough time raising his kids I believe. Not much to go on as far as his political stance accept of course he's the Dem. VP pick. He's kind of out of the mainstream. with Sarah and all. I will have to read more on him but like I said it's not going to make a difference for me so no point in researching him. On a personal note he seems like a great dad.

I think he is a good candidate.. he has some of the experience obama lacks. He his pro womens rights, supports gay rights, I like his views on gun control and he wants our soldiers out of Iraq. I think he is a good match for obama.

Isn't it wonderful our soldiers will be coming out of Iraq perhaps in Feb 09. I believe 8000 or so but of course some others will need to go to Afsganistan. I do like that Biden agreed with McCain on the war in Iraq.

And yes he does have the experience Obama lacks. Foriegn affairs.

So what are his views on gun control? Because I am one of those gun toting folks myself lol

well, then you wont like his views. The NRA gives him a rating of F... He is for the ban on assault rifles, voted no against prohibiting lawsuits against gun makers. Basically that there are too many people with to many guns.

Dang it I guess I am glad I am not voting for that team

 Didnt think so.. I have family members that carry guns. I dont care for them but I dont mind if someone else does. Well, except for the ones who want to hold me up at gunpoint. I do think a little more regulation would be a good thing. To many guns in the wrong hands.

Have you ever watched bowling for Columbine? If not you should check it out. It was a real eye opener for me.

Something to think about

This is the story of our Grandmothers and Great-grandmothers; they lived only 90 years ago.

Remember, it was not until 1920 that women were granted the right to go to the polls and vote.

ac2.jpg

The women were innocent and defenseless, but they were jailed nonetheless for picketing the White House, carrying signs asking for the vote.

Lucy Burns)
And by the end of the night, they were barely alive. Forty prison guards wielding clubs and their warden's blessing went on a rampage against the 33 women wrongly convicted of 'obstructing sidewalk traffic.' They beat Lucy Burns, chained her hands to the cell bars above her head and left her hanging for the night, bleeding and gasping for air.

Dora Lew is)
They hurled Dora Lew is into a dark cell, smashed her head against an iron bed and knocked her out cold. Her cellmate, Alice Cosu, thought Lew is was dead and suffered a heart attack. Additional affidavits describe the guards grabbing, dragging, beating, choking, slamming, pinching, twisting and kicking the women.

Thus unfolded the 'Night of Terror' on Nov. 15, 1917,
when the warden at the Occoquan Workhouse in Virginia ordered his guards to teach a lesson to the suffragists imprisoned there because they dared to picket Woodrow Wilson's White House for the right to vote. For weeks, the women's only water came from an open pail. Their food--all of it colorless slop--was infested with worms.

Alice Paul)
When one of the leaders, Alice Paul, embarked on a hunger strike, they tied her to a chair, forced a tube down her throat and poured liquid into her until she vomited. She was tortured like this for weeks until word was smuggled out to the press.

Yes I have seen the program. Not to worry I wouldn't hold you up  you too much even if you are a dem. just messing with you. GUNS DON'T KILL PEOPLE PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE. I guess it all comes down to what you are taught about guns and how to use them.

When my daughter was almost a year old my FIL left his gun on the table and she found it and put it in her mouth. ya know babies.. everything goes in their mouths.. luckily she was alright but it could have been bad, real bad. I don't have a problem with gun owners. I have a problem with irresponsible gun owners.

edit.. my spelling is terrible.

Oh wow that would make anyone afraid of guns in the house. I hope he never did that again.

He didnt. my MIL and myself always made sure when we were visiting that he had it put up. My MIL freaked! She isnt the type to cuss but wow! she let go a slew of obscenities that made me proud.

I grew up around guns and we never even thought about them. Only for hunting. I would use one though for self defense.

Its different if you grow up around them, are taught safety.. Its just unfortunate that so many people get them and dont take the proper precautions. It makes me sick to my stomach to hear about little kids being shot because mom and dad didn't lock the gun up. The hard part is trying to balance the rights of the responsible gun owners against the safety of innocents.

You know this is another one of those things we weren't taught anything about. I mean dad never said here's my guns don't play with them. We knew what a gun was because we played cowboys and indians and we knew guns can hurt you. We just never gave it a second thought. I think now days there is too much attention brought to them. I can see the same differences in the way you and I feel on this issue too but that's ok. Of course it upsets me when anyone gets shot especially kids it's awful. Times sure has changed because I never heard of accidental shootings when I was growing up.

Forgot to say we knew guns were for hunting and hunting meant food on the table.

I am so-so about Biden. I can appreciate his views on abortion(doesn't necessarily agree with it but doesn't want to overturn R VS. W) but he does believe that life begins at conception and I do not. However, he did vote yes on $100 million to reduce teen pregnancy by education and contraceptives.

Biden's a big supporter of renewable resources but recognizes corn is only going to take us so far. He's against the big oil guys getting tax breaks and that's more than OK in my book.

Biden authored the Violence Against Women Act. I'm a woman so I am more than happy about that

He believes that we're in a war that shouldn't have been fought and that the wealthy were given tax breaks that weren't needed. Ending the war would mean cutting those taxes, reducing the deficit, and getting out of debt with China.

Joe Biden believes(take it for what it's worth)

the greatest sins on this earth are committed by people of standing and means who abuse their power.

With power and privilege, I was taught, comes a responsibility to treat others with respect and fairness. When we see people abusing power, it is our duty to intercede on behalf of their victims.

As I looked back on my career, it was obvious that what had animated me was the belief that we should stand up to those who abused power, whether it was political, economic, or physical.

He's a politician. I'd like to believe him but I just don't know.

He voted no on requiring an ID for voter registration which I do not agree with. But that's another topic for another thread LOL

On the guns tip, I agree with him that guns should come with proper safety devices and that background checks must be done, even at gun shows.

Healthcare is wishy-washy but that may be because it directly involves my family. I agree that children come first in health care but let's not leave out adults who desperately need medicine, not only for prevention but for the sake of living.

Biden can be quoted as saying:

Parents cannot be certain their kids will be better off than they were, or if they will be able to retire with dignity. The gap between rich and poor is now as big as it was during the Great Depression, with the top one percent of all Americans getting 12 percent of all the income

I understand it is his personal opinion but I do believe it is based on some fact. I as a parent as well as a lot of parents that I talk with on a daily basis do have concern for their children's future. It's hard telling your children to do what makes them happy and everything will be OK. I find myself pushing my sons into making college and career-oriented decisions. Instead of telling them, "do whatever makes you happy" my hubby and myself find ourselves saying, "you have to go to college if you want to be financially secure." While my sons may be stoked and college-bound at this point in their lives they still have a lot of living to do and may change their minds in the future. That scares the human excretement out of me!

On the fence with Biden but he shows some promise LOL I'm not getting the feeling he wants to stick it to me as a woman or as an american, unlike Palin.

OMG! I'm glad she was not hurt!! I won't say anything about FIL but you know it wouldn't be good  Hopefully, and I'm sure he realizes that was a stupid oversight.

Hubby and I were robbed at gunpoint. Shotgun-point to be exact. Hubby had a loaded gun put to the back of his head after we were made to lie on the ground. I'm a BIG-TIME and PASSIONATE advocate of gun control. I, however, am all about personal safety. I've been considering taking the carry and conceal course. I'm already a pretty good bow and arrow user and we do have "ole blue" LOL But a gun seems more "productive" if one has an intruder, although where I live intruders are rare and scarce.
