Exercise for our health support thread

Exercise is good for all of us no matter when we start. I am going to start an on line accountability thread for me and anyone else who wants to post. I work out at least 5 days a week and I am sure there are others who do too. I don't do it necessarily for being thin but I do it for health benefits. There is just so much to gain from a good cardio workout and weight bearing exercises. So please join me if you like and let's motivate one another.

Today I did a walk/run on the treadmill for 45 minutes. I will also lift weights with 10 lb. hand weights.

Here's to our health

Did an hour long "Body Combat" class last night at the gym. It really isn't my thing but it was a great workout and the music rocked! I'm more of a step aerobic-dancefit -weight training kind of girl but that was what was on the schedule and I was there so what the heck !

Good for you :) I tried a kick boxing class one time and that wasn't for me.

Any time you want to give me any tips I'd love that. For instance a new health food out that really tastes good or a new workout routine. As long as we are just sticking with some form of exercise our bodies will thank us. Thanks for leting me know I am not alone in this lifestyle of working out.

I try to go to the gym three times a week and hike for a half an hour five days a week with my dh.

Yesterday 1/2 hour on elliptical and 1/2 hour of laps in pool.
Today 1/2 hour body works class (weight lifting) and about ready to take that hike!

z.

Dang girl you are tough :) Rock on I am impressed.

I walked around the kitchen table 12 times when I was on the phone :crazytongue:

Way to go and I did enjoy the conversation :) And since you are our resident medical dictionary I am sure you could help us all stick to our workout routines.

Yup that is such a good idea.
While waiting for my water to heat while making green tea
I try to get in 3 reps of lunges!

30 minutes on the elliptical at the highest resistance. Just in case some of you didn't know when you pedal backwards you get a different muscle groop workout. But I am guessing you guys know this already.

Health Tip of the Day
General Information
A Cure For Athlete's Foot

Wash and dry your feet twice a day and then apply an over-the-counter antifungal cream between your toes, as well as to the inside of your shoes and socks. Also, wear clean socks make of wool or cotton, not synthetics.

I'll post these also.

Yup knew about the backwards on the elliptical trick.
I do that also!

No exercise today - spending the day with some old friends.
Will make it up on Saturday.
Everyone have an awesome weekend.
:crazytongue:

No work out today

Women And Heart Attacks

Although more men experience heart attacks than women, women's attacks are usually more severe and twice as likely to be fatal. In addition, women don't do as well after bypass surgery. As an outgrowth, women, no matter what their age, should make extra special efforts to reduce the major heart disease risk factors-smoking, obesity, high cholesterol, hypertension, stress and inactivity.

Had a super day with friends yesterday.

But got right back to it today - went out on a brisk 30 minute hike with my dh.

My 83 year old mother went out and walked for a mile and a half today. She normally does two miles on the treadmill but it was a nice day. She is in better shape than I am!

I need to get out to the gym today - but so much to do!
I will at least get my hike in today!

I will probably working in the yard today so that will be my workout. That's the great thing about just moving and how that will get the heart pumping.

Age, Sex And Blood Pressure

Men have a greater likelihood of developing high blood pressure before the age of 55. The risk to men and women are about equal between the ages of 55-65. The risk switches after the age of 65, as women are more likely to be hypertensive. If you fit one of these categories, be extra careful to have your blood pressure checked every six months.

60 minutes on treadmill using one of their programs. Don't forget to use the incline on the treadmill. It makes it a more effective workout.

Shocking Truth About Extension Cords

Putting away extension cords can improve the safety of your home as some 4,000 fires are associated with them. Inspect your cords and discard any that are cracked or damaged. Also, use 3-wire extension cords for appliances with 3-pronged plugs. Finally, only use the cords if you absolutely have to.

20 Minutes elliptical and 10 working with free weights. If you don't have gym equipment just use what you have around the house. A couple jars of laundry detergent. Anything is something.

Health Tip of the Day
When In The Hospital
Hospital Shopping

Consumers should spend as much time selecting a hospital as they do a hotel. Although some people may think it's inappropriate to compare medical procedures and price, it can serve to improve the quality of your care, while reducing costs. Some tips to follow include exploring outpatient care instead of that received as an inpatient in a hospital. Also, select a hospital that has a good deal of experience and a successful record in the type of treatment you require. You can find this information by calling the hospital's administrator or chief of the medical staff.

Will be going to the gym later today for my latin dance class.
No hike today - early dinner at Anthony's on the harbor and the a walk along the beach by the Hotel Del Coronado.
(Maybe a wine tasting after - :sunny:)
