did anyone see the video of Obama calling himself president? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgr2jyYrvLk&feature=related ooops!!!.. wow, that had to be embarrassing.
well I care because she is up for VP of this country. Just because im not voting mccain/palin doesnt mean I should not educate myself on what they stand for.
I started this thread to find out what people think of the first woman VP pick and of course there are two sides as always. I think I have voiced my opinion more than enough on her and I have to say I am glad she is on the ticket. I won't do any mud slinging on the Dem. nominee as it is nonproductive. May the best man win POTUS.

Actually, Cin, she is the second woman to run for the VP spot on a major ticket. Geraldine Ferraro was Walter Mondale's running mate in 1984. The Repubs came at her with both guns drawn. It was clear, then, that America was not ready to accept a female in such a high position.
As for now, Obama picked Biden. A strong representation for the Good Ole Boy club. I don't know enough about Palin yet to decide on her. I do know I don't like Obama and I really don't like McCain. So, I look at it this way, McCain is in his 70's. I need to learn about his running mate and factor that into my vote because when I read the paper today, I, like usual, glanced at the obits. There were a lot of people in their 70's there. So, anything anyone wants to share about her, I am happy to read.
I know better than to believe a blog.
I am a registered unenrolled. Many staunch Repubs and Dems have asked me why I have not chosen a party. I have even been called wishy washy, by my colleagues, for not choosing. Personally, I find it hard to choose. Honestly, I am an educated professional with personal beliefs that fall on both sides. Although personally I don't believe in abortion, I don't believe it is my right or place to tell others how to believe on the issue or whether or not to have one. I also don't think, until anyone of us is in that position, that we know what we would do. I do believe in a strong military. I firmly believe in a missle defense system. I think President Bush should be impeached for knowingly lying to the UN.
I however also think the media has a responsibility to report the news, not make the scandal. I think it is very difficult for Americans, who use free thought and don't just vote for someone because the person is a Repub or Dem, to get enough information to make an educated decision.
Heck, in 2 days, I knew all the scandalous information available on Governor Palin, but it has taken much longer to find out who she really is. Her being a moose hunter is offensive to me and very unladylike, in this Bambie lover's eyes. I do admire her being a working mother. I admire her strength and support of her teen daughter's struggles. None of which is likely to sway my decision about the republican ticket.
What will sway my decision is her views on Abortion Rights, her opinion and actions on ANWR, her views on Iraq, South Korea, Iran and Afganistan. Does she have insight in the economics of the US? Aside from ANWR, what solutions is she bringing to the energy crisis?
What makes me angry, I go to my homepage this morning and all I see is "Who is the most over paid actor" and "Campaign Outrage Machine in Rolling." The only campaign news there was the story saying that the candidates feign outrage to increase donations. What a joke!
why today I wonder? Maybe Im just jaded and really, really cynical but it seems like an odd day. why not yesterday or tomorrow. Im curious now about the questions.

Today does seem rather odd. It was most likely planned in advance but why today of all days? Maybe the GOP was hoping saps like me would be less critical of her answers since it is 9/11 LOL It's hard to be mad at anything today.

That and didn't her son ship out for Iraq today also?
Is it just me or is anyone else sick of hearing people complain that Palin isn't thinking of her family or this talk about her decisions about running for VP having an effect on her family.... It's irritating... What about the male candidates that run ... does anyone ever ask them how this will effect their family life? NO ... they dont'... so why does this keep getting call out on this... so what her daughter is prego .... does that mean she isn't worth being a good VP? I like the fact that she's firery..... I think she's strong and was an excellent pick on McCains part....
People in general... abortion in my opinion is murder.. i'm glad she & McCain would be using religious views to run our country.... we need more of that installed back into our government.... i think her ex-brother-in-law should have been fired.... i read that he admitted to using a friggin' taser gun on a few occations on his step son (Palins nephew).... He got what he deserved.... :sunny:
