Horror movies anyone?

I watched Mirrors this morning. It certainly wasn't what I was expecting but I liked it. It won't win any awards but the acting was good, it was almost CGI free and the tension build up was high in parts. As could be expected from a horror movie there were quite a few holes but you could ignore most of them and enjoy the show. It's good to see Keifer Sutherland in something other than 24 again even if his acting still has only 3 speeds. Angry, distressed and uncomfortable. I can't tell too much of the plot without giving a lot away so I'll just summarize. Jack Bauer + old building + evil mirrors = dead people everywhere.

  aint that the truth. It had some eww that was kinda creepy moments but that's it.

The Morgue ~ F ~ Cant describe this one and have it make sense because the movie didn't make sense. The "Plot" has been done, alot, and much better. It was so hard to follow I sat through the movie, especially the first half an hour saying.. what?.. why?... huh?.

The acting was awful.. some of the worse I have seen and the music was even worse. What gets me as that at some point the writer, director, the cast and crew im assuming all sat down at watched the finished product and someone had to say yep, its finished lets release it.. was there not a voice of reason in that room or did everyone just not care.

This movie should be sent to film schools around the country to show how not to make a movie.... Seriously.. My IQ dropped 10 points just by watching it.

We watched Primeval, the story of Gustave, the huge, killer crocodile last night. It was surprisingly OK! I found it to be interesting that it was based on a true story.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Primeval_(film)

Also watched I Know who Killed Me. I really wished I had followed my gut on this one. It has Lindsay Lohan in it. Ugh. Need I say more? It sounded good, though. Stripper gets hacked up, body parts cut off and lives. It was doodoo!

lol...looks like we were all in horror mode this week.

I watched one called Midnight Meat Train. Yeah, great title. The movie...not so much. Basically there's a serial killer who stalks the last subway train of the night. A photojournalist (some no-name) who is trying to capture 'the heart of the city' to impress Brooke Shields (she plays an art gallery owner) accidentally stumbles into the killers world. Like a dummy he can't give up on finding out what the guy is up to and you can figure out the rest. There are some really good gory scenes but the movie moves slowly and is very jumbled in parts. I found myself hoping the killing would pick-up but it just didn't happen. There is a small but completely unbelievable twist to the killing but it's no kind of payoff for having to sit through this lumbering excuse for a movie.

Rest Stop 2: Don't Look Back

This movie was really good up until the last 20 minutes. It made me end up disliking the entire movie upon figuring out some disturbing news about the bad guy. After that, I was like UGH! Did they really have to go and ruin what could have been 2 great, scary, bloody, suspenseful movies?!

Red Ridge

Based on a true story of sexual slavery. The movie crawls to an anti-climatic climax. I was able to cook and serve a 3-course meal while watching it and didn't miss a thing. How's that for slow?! The bad guys are more than a little disturbing with their treatment of the women they've kidnapped to sell into slavery. I found myself wishing for grotesque tortures to their man parts. It didn't happen. A lot of things "didn't happen" in this movie. I wish I didn't happen to rent it, even though I was only out a buck eighteen.

The Cottage

Trace, how in the world are you able to watch this movie multiple times? While I did find it humorous I also found it frustrating. People can't be that dumb. Not even in scary movies LOL I kept yelling, "Hey genius! Behind you!!!" And what's with that ending? Were those female descendents of the freak? All I was able to see was long hair and long hands, I think. I'm really not sure.

lmao! I loooooove the cottage. Its supposed to be stupid. They are supposed to be stupid. No one would act the way they do in real life. take the part with the hair dresser for example.. he is dying right.. his guts are coming out and he is worried about getting the nationality right of the two guys... he says Chinese? Korean?.. That's what makes it so funny. I have a weird sense of humor. I love dark comedies. And it helps that I "get" British humor. Its not for everyone. I have probably watched that movie fifty times. I can recite it verbatim. The people in the cellar are his family. his wife, and children. They were normal until he got messed up physically and then mentally....

OK, I remember seeing family pics all over the walls. I think I remember how he got hurt but not sure. I was up and down, giving youngest a bath and baking cookies. They did a great job on the gore! Jennifer sure can cuss and fight real good!

He was hurt in a farm accident.

I loved jennifer Ellison in this. what a mouth she has. I havent counted of course but she says the C and P word alot. More so than any movie I have ever seen. And I have seen a lot of movies with a lot of cussing. Its just funny ya got this pretty blond saying the most vile things in that accent. It cracks me up.

I thought it was like a tractor, auger accident. But what about his family? Why do they look like freaky creatures? And did you see those hands in the freezer? They were huge! I like when the brother calls the other brother David in her presence and then the idiot walks in without his face mask  A bunch of geniuses!!

yeah, some kind of farm equipment.. they are kinda vague about it.. only what you can read from the news clippings. I think his family looks like that because he terroized them for who knows how long and they went a little cuckoo.. eating people and all.

The hands were huge.. I love how he says I think we should go now. And that part about calling him david is one of my favorites.. when they get back downstairs and he is confronting his brother about it and peter(the bald idiot.. ) says well its hard to concentrate when you're having your life threatened and David says.. It was the first F...... thing you said!!!.. :cussing: cracked me up.. He was sooo mad he looked like he was fixing to explode.

One of the reasons I love this movie so much is the actors are great. all of them.. David.. looks and acts like a thug.. peter... looks and acts like a weak man.. Andrew.. looks and acts like a complete idiot.. Tracey.. looks and acts like a really mean witch. they all play their roles very well..

Feast~ D ~ another dark comedy.. monsters terrorize bar patrons. it was.... different. It had some really good gory scenes and the dialogue was really stupid, which is what I expect in a movie like this, but it wasnt really funny. I chuckled a couple of times but that was it. The monsters were kinda cool looking considering the budget and the actors were adequate but it was just blah. :sleepy:

You'll be happy to know that Feast 2 is about to be released on dvd. It can only get worse, which means it should be just right for ya this time.

I watched it today.. it was worse.. yeah!! I liked it!!..

 now ya know I cant spoil it for other movie freaks like myself. I will say this though.. you should watch it just for the "dissection" scene alone. Its gory and funny at the same time. I could watch bad movies all day long. It really is a sickness I think.

ETA~~ I almost forgot... If people vomiting on screen makes you want to vomit.. DO NOT WATCH the dissection scene!

You really need to check out the Troma catalog. Some of my favorites come from them. Sgt. Kabukiman, Tromeo and Juliette, Rabid Grannies, Redneck Zombies, Fat Guy Goes Nutzoid, Poultrygeist...I could go on for days!

You guys crack me up with those cheesy horror movies. I'd get too frustrated from yelling watch out! or behind you! or don't get killed! :cussing: I'll have to watch Feast 2 though just for the sake of watching it munch on little peeps. I'm curious if he swallows them whole or chews them up first

is anyone planning on seeing Quarantine? If I might make a suggestion.. this movie is another hollywood remake.. the original is called REC and is pretty good. I watched it a couple of months ago.. you might want to check out the original first.. it is subtitled (badly I might add). Its Spanish.

Hey, thanks for that! I'd rather watch the original first myself but Quarantine doesn't look half bad.

Hubby just called and he rented me Joyride 2 for tonight :headbang: I didn't even know it was out for rent yet.

Oh, man! This was really good! The ending was unbelieveable but so what  Suspenseful, disturbing, gut-wrenching, horrifying, humiliating, mutilating, and intense!
