Re: HOW TO post your thread and C&P your OP

The vote/referral ask rules

Vote for and post to the active asks in this forum {the members who do RTF will have a thumbs up} including your ask in your post.
Make sure you RTF at least as often as you ask others to vote for you, but you'll create more goodwill and won't risk having your thread locked if you try to RTF daily.

In a nutshell:

You MUST be a member for at least 2 weeks to ask. You may vote and give a heads up that you will have an ask when your 2 weeks have passed, but NO links allowed.

You've been a member more than 2 weeks?

Post only to active {unstickied} asks in this {Referral and Vote Requests} forum or risk a BAN.
You may also include your link in your signature if you are a PLUS member.
ONE thread per ask
NO posting your ask in other forums, via pm's, or posting to comments allowed.
RTF at least as often as you ask others to vote for you.

{RTF = Return The Favor}

Post your ask thread - include the name of the contest/sponsor, end date, how often we can vote, and a direct link. NO shortened links please. If you MUST post a shortened link? Include the links to the sponsor/contest.

So your title will look like this:

DATE: *{month}/{day}* VOTE FREQUENCY: 1x, 1x per IP, Daily, Daily {24 hr} etc. SPONSOR/CONTEST TITLE: {sponsor}.com/SA title, etc.

EXAMPLE: *5/31* (midnight) 1x like Nat Photo Month

Re: HOW TO post your thread and C&P your OP

HOW TO C&P {Copy & Paste} your OP {Original Post} to another thread:

Just go to YOUR thread and click on REPLY WITH QUOTE when you are at your OP. Then use your cursor to right click and click on SELECT ALL and then COPY.

Open the thread where you are voting and hit REPLY.

Right click {with your cursor in the reply box} and click on PASTE.

You must add at least 10 characters {ie: I voted, please RTF [or] I was vote #5, please RTF} above or below what you just C&P'ed since the system doesn't recognize/count the quoted words.

Now your ask is posted where the asker will see it, which provides your voting link. - if they click the >> next to your name, it will take them to YOUR thread, where they can easily RTF!

When everyone does this it allows both asker and askee to keep track in their OWN thread who voted/RTF'ed for them, and thus who to vote/RTF for, easy peasy!

That way people won't have to try to find your thread - or which thread you mean if you have multiple asks - and then they'll post they RTF'ed to your thread and bump you up in return! WIN WIN!!!

We advocate people C&P'ing their OP - just click on the arrows after their name {in their C&P post} and it will take you to their thread, where you can easily post you RTF'ed!

As to threads you haven't voted in? It's usually by 1st posted - so when you have an ask, you post your thread, then you go down the forum and vote/post your C&P, and those who post an ask after you did, will do the same, and everyone is happy.

Where we run into problems is when people post and leave, post only in their own threads, or those who post a new thread and expect those who posted prior to come to them.

I don't ask for votes, {just rfl entries on occasion} I only vote for SA'ers who support each other {by RTF'ing to the other threads} but if I did? I sure wouldn't think to ask and not give!

Re: HOW TO post your thread, RTF, and C&P your OP

Looking for more votes?

If you post to ALL the open threads {just those with a thumbs up - PLEASE wait for new askers to show they will vote} when you do your daily voting, instead of waiting for them to come to you, then they will RTF when they do their daily voting!

Besides, it's the only way to make sure to hit all the daily asks {so many contests are on a 24 hr clock} well, daily! :p

PLUS - if you have a future ask, SA'ers WILL remember who votes, and how often.

Then they {and you} will be able to keep track of who votes in their/your own thread - win-win!

Re: HOW TO post your thread, RTF, and C&P your OP

The vote rules are basic;

be a member for at least 2 weeks,
ONE thread per ask
Vote for & post you voted for the other asks in their thread at least every 3 days
Post the end date, vote frequency and contest/sponsor in your ask thread TITLE.

Please do NOT use the THUMB'S UP - I will add it once you've been affirmed as someone who RTF's, thanks!

VOTERS - please pay attention to the ask frequency - a 1x only needs ONE vote from you.

If the OP hasn't RTF'ed to your thread?

Please post "I already voted for you {include the date} please RTF" so they will have an accurate count of how many people voted.

VOTERS - the default is NO comments, just vote unless you are asked to comment.

If you are asking for votes and you DO want comments? Put it in your OP so voters will know.

If you have a 1x ask, keep track of who RTF's, so when you RTF, you don't include your C&P for those who already voted for you and then they won't keep posting they voted for your 1x.

Reminder;

The SA forum rules are simple - much easier than the rules for the contest you entered that you want us to vote for you on are!

You MUST RTF {vote} or your thread will be locked.

Please RTF at LEAST as often as you ask from others; if yours is a daily, RTF daily, and if yours is a 1x, RTF at least every 3 days.

Only vote for the threads that have a thumbs up. The more you vote for others, the more they will RTF!

You MUST POST you RTF'ed - post to their threads, not just your own if you want those of us who don't ask for votes to vote for you & to keep your thread open, ty.

ALSO - they would like to know who is voting for them in their own thread too!

If you don't RTF, or post to let us know why you won't be able to vote {trip, etc.} then your thread will be locked

If you want to build goodwill AND keep your thread from being locked? Vote for the active asks {the ones that will RTF have a thumbs up} right after you post your ask - to their threads.

So just focus on the open ask threads that have a thumbs up, and post to them, then those SA'ers will RTF and bump your thread in return, and you won't waste your time voting for someone who doesn't RTF.

2/26/14 update: SA/SP Admin {Ken} has determined that for PLUS members there is No 2 week Waiting Period

However, PLEASE wait for all new askers to show that they will vote {and that their post has a thumbs up/Welcome to the forum post} before posting you voted for them;

TIP - unsure if a new asker is eligible to ask for votes or votes for others? Just click on their user name to bring up their profile, and you will see their join date {they must be at SA at least 2 weeks} and what threads they have posted in, easy peasy!

SA'ers, please take note:

TIP - if you see an ask from a brand new member who probably only has ONE post {their ask} they are most likely NOT eligible for posting an ask, and if they are eligible? They will probably NOT RTF!

If they haven't been here 2 weeks, their thread will be modified and they will be banned.

See a new ask by a member you never saw in this forum before?

Please don't vote for these guys until they are vetted. ESPECIALLY if their ask is their ONLY post.

If they are eligible to ask?

I'll post the "Welcome to the vote forum" post and when they show they DO vote, then I'll change it to a thumbs up.

If they have a ? it means they haven't yet voted so you might want to wait for them to vote & post so as not to waste your time.

PLEASE start your own thread.

ONE thread per ask. NO limit on # of asks per asker.

Some of ONLY vote, {we don't ask for votes, we just vote, and we only vote if you have a thread} so we go by threads to know who to vote for, how often, and when it ends - If you have trouble/any questions, just ask!

You can post here:

http://www.sweepsadvantage.com/foru...read-have-ask-dos-donts-voting-etiquette.html

HOWEVER..

If you choose not to start your own thread, but you do post to other threads asking for votes, you still need to RTF and post or you risk having your posts removed and being banned from posting.

Re: ***READ b4 posting*** HOW TO post your thread, RTF, and C&P your OP

briannimal, {who unlike myself actually enters vote for me contests :crazytongue:} said what I've been trying to get across to new askers:

... People have a hard time with the concept of doing the work to get these votes! They don't understand that it takes a massive amount of personal marketing and those who do the work likely win.
So many people cry about "it should be random!!" "have a competition!!" "people buy votes!!" not understanding that MOST people actually DO NOT, and they could be doing the same thing we are!

This is why it so important that if you post an ask that you vote for the active asks in the forum {and post that you voted to the asker's thread} at least as often as you ask others to vote for you.

All askers are working hard to get votes for their contest so they take the time to RTF and acknowledge their fellow SA'ers. This matters.

Also, please take into account, if you just posted an ask, that those who already have had an ask posted will expect you to vote for them first - just posting your ask will probably get you a few voters, but if you only RTF to those that post in your thread, you limit your opportunies for votes!

We advocate people C&P'ing their OP - just click on their name {in their C&P post} and it will take you to their thread, where you can easily post you RTF'ed!

A direct link.

NO shortened links please. If you MUST post a shortened link? Include the links to the sponsor/contest.

DATE: *{month}/{day}* VOTE FREQUENCY: 1x, 1x per IP, Daily, Daily {24 hr} etc. SPONSOR/CONTEST TITLE: {sponsor}.com/SA title, etc.

Re: ***READ b4 posting*** HOW TO post your thread, RTF, and C&P your OP

For a member here at least 2 weeks:

If a member posts to your thread with an ask, but doesn't start their own thread, they are still required to abide by the rules and their post(s) will be modified to remove their link if the don't return to vote at *least* every 3 days.

Re: ***READ b4 posting*** HOW TO post your thread, RTF, and C&P your OP

SA rules were instituted to protect SA'ers from those who joined SA just to get votes.

It was determined that having a 2 week minimum membership requirement would weed those out those who joined SA just to get votes, and for the most part it does.

So SA will do part of the work for you, by weeding out those who aren't eligible to ask, and by using the question mark icon to denote those who have been here at least 2 weeks, but haven't yet shown they RTF.

With multiple avenues to ask for votes {SA, FB, etc.} as in with the contest you entered, there are rules you must abide by. The RTF rule {RTF = Return The Favor} is a rule that SA requires.

However, we still do get some SA'ers who feel the requirement to post at SA {that they did/do indeed vote} is asking too much of them.

This requirement {to post to threads that you voted} was instituted because multiple SA'ers were pm'ing me, upset that they voted for others, but that those people weren't RTF'ing.

SA cannot force people to vote for others - I personally think we are all adults, and should accept that there are people who don't prioritize basic consideration for others as we might.

Asking for votes is asking for a favor from others, and they will choose to vote for you or not. If you do decide to vote for an ask, before that asker has proven that they will RTF? Your choice, and your risk.

If I entered these types of contests, I'd understand {as the newest asker} to vote for the active asks after posting my OP instead of just posting my OP and waiting.

Re: ***READ b4 posting*** HOW TO post your thread, RTF, and C&P your OP

Seems hard, but it's really not - RTF just means "please Return The Vote" and as someone asking for others to vote for you, you should be happy to oblige!

Re: ***READ b4 posting*** HOW TO post your thread, RTF, and C&P your OP

Voters - if you aren't getting an RTF, it's up to you to decide if you will continue voting for a member or not.

Askers - remember, you must post at SA when you vote, preferably to their thread, since most don't read anyone else's thread.

So you WON from your ask and want to let SA'ers who voted for you to know?

If you win from a vote ask just start a thread in the winners circle - if I see it or if you pm me, I will update your locked thread {because it ended} to say you won!

PLEASE - Do NOT post in this {VOTE} forum - just shoot me a pm with the link to your winners thread, or, if you choose not to start one and just want your thread updated, lmk.

Unsure how to make sure you RTF for everyone?

You could just vote for those who posted in your thread, but then you might miss some.

My system ensures I don't miss anyone - I bookmark the active asks where the OP votes and posts to the other threads. I don't vote for those who only post to their own thread, or who don't take the time to post they voted in the active asks.

I open the bookmarks in tabs, vote, then I post I voted.

Instead of typing it all out each time, I use my SA user name in FIND, going thread by thread, & I just C&P my previous post {adding vote count as needed} after I do all the votes.

If you post to ALL the open threads {just those with a thumbs up - PLEASE wait for new askers to show they will vote} when you do your daily voting, instead of waiting for them to come to you, then they will RTF when they do their daily voting! :sunny:

Besides, it's the only way to make sure to hit all the daily asks {so many contests are on a 24 hr clock} well, daily!

Then they {and you} will be able to keep track of who votes in their/your own thread - win-win! :headbang:

If you do post to their threads daily, then I'll add your ask to my daily votes.

HOW TO C&P {Copy & Paste} your OP {Original Post}:

Just go to YOUR thread and click on QUOTE when you are at your OP. Right click and click on SELECT ALL and then COPY.

Open the thread where you are voting and hit REPLY

Right click {with your cursor in the reply box} and click on PASTE. You can add any info {ie: I VOTED, I was vote #5, etc} above or below what you just C&P'ed.

Now your ask is posted, which provides your voting link - where it says Quote from: so when they click on Quote from:, it will take them to YOUR thread, where they can easily RTF! :headbang:

Re: ***READ b4 posting*** HOW TO post your thread, RTF, and C&P your OP

SA provides this forum for members to ask for votes. The rules are basic - 2 week minimum membership, post 1 thread per ask, and vote at least once every 3 days.

What SA can do if someone doesn't follow the rules?

Asks posted by a member here less than 2 weeks will be modified and they will be banned.

If a member asks for votes and doesn't RTF for at least ONE ask, their thread will be locked after 3 days of inactivity.

What SA doesn't do:

Conversely, if a member posts an ask and votes back the bare minimum of one vote every 3 days, they are within the limits.

If you are voting for them, and notice they don't RTF for you? Stop voting for them. SA can't force people to vote.

I usually don't have an ask, I monitor this forum and vote for the active asks where the OP votes for most/all of the other asks, to the OP's thread, not just to their own thread.

If I see someone is doing the bare minimum, and/or only posting to their own thread, I'll post about it to their thread, but as long as some of you continue to post/vote for them, they will just do the minimum.

Re: ***READ b4 posting*** HOW TO post your thread, RTF, and C&P your OP

Just joined SA?

Clarification - if you are new here, and you will be asking for votes when your 2 weeks are up, you may vote for the active asks, and let them know that you will be posting an ask when your 2 weeks are up.

NO links, entry names, etc. allowed. Just that you will have an ask when your 2 weeks are up.

I'd post something like:

Hi, I voted for you and when my 2 weeks at SA have passed, I'll be be posting my ask, I do hope you'll remember me and RTF then, thanks!
