I'm just really over protective with the kids and anything that could harm them (ie: Hot oven!)
My mother is from Germany, and they teach their children to do everything very early. She started teaching me to cook and bake at four years old. Back then this meant lighting the burners (stove and oven) with matches. I did it all on my own supervised at first and on my own after my mother was sure I knew what I was doing. I was also taught crocheting, needlepoint, and sewing (hand and machine) among other things. Children are very capable of learning and doing these things early in life; and I thank my mother for passing on the experience and talents to me. By the time I was out on my own, I had about 20 years of experience. :headbang: I have such a love for doing so many different things, and I really appreciate my mother for taking the time to teach me all of these things.
