Same old story with a different tune for this Saturday afternoon lots of sunshine and seasonal temperatures. Lows last night were still a bit on the cool in the upper 40s to lower 50s, but this time of year, it is rather refreshing. Highs this afternoon climbed into the lower 80s. High pressure continues to dominate our weather keeping us dry and seasonal once again. As this high continues to push south and east, temperatures really aren`t going to fluctuate too much over the coming days. On the other hand, our chances for precipitation will be fluctuating through much of next week.
A stationary front across the U.P. of Michigan is expected to stay north through the overnight hours, but it will slide a bit farther south during the day on Sunday. South of the front, high pressure will keep dew points in the 40s and lower 50s across the region with light easterly winds. This will actually help limit shower and thunderstorm activity on Sunday afternoon. However, as the high slips south and east, the Northwoods may have the best chance for an isolated shower or thunderstorm late in the day and during the overnight hours Sunday. The chance is small and not much in the way of precipitation is expected. A wave of low pressure moving along the front will provide a better chance for showers and storms on Monday afternoon with the best chance across the Northwoods. Some of the storms may contain heavy rainfall. Highs both Sunday and Monday will be in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees.
The stationary front will slide back north on Tuesday and skies should start to clear out by Tuesday afternoon. The break from the rain will be temporary as another wave of low pressure helps push the front back south. Ahead of the second wave of low pressure, temperatures will be warmer with more humid conditions, which will help aid in the development of thunderstorms late Wednesday afternoon/evening, just in time for the 4th of July fireworks. Highs on the 4th of July holiday will be in the lower 80s. A cold front will push through by Thursday morning with clearing skies and temperatures falling back only into the upper 70s. Dry weather should continue into Friday, but there may be another risk of storms on Saturday.
Have a wonderful 4th of July weekend!
