The Super Bowl Nears As The NFL Rolls Through The Hiring Cycle

The 2025 National Football League season is now almost at an end and fans across the world are now gearing up for February's Super Bowl 60 between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots, but preparations have already begun as franchises begin making their changes ahead of the next campaign.

Fans of both franchises will be making the trip to the Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, next month (Feb 8) for the showpiece event and plenty in the wider NFL world will simply enjoy the fact that it does not involve either the Kansas City Chiefs or the Philadelphia Eagles again, as it would be nice to see someone else compete for, and then lift, the Vince Lombardi Trophy once again. For those who like a small flutter and use New York gambling sites for their NFL fun, the Super Bowl is bound to be a great draw as fans look through the odds, offers and games available.

The road to this year's Super Bowl has again been an intriguing affair with plenty of headlines created and talking points offered up and it looks set to be a fascinating clash between the Seahawks and the Pats given their own route through. The NFC Championship game was a pure shootout as the Seahawks faced off against the Los Angeles Rams. Quarterbacks Sam Darnold and Matt Stafford went head to head in the encounter, throwing three touchdown passes a piece in an eventual 31-27 win. The AFC Championship battle was a polar opposite affair with defences dominating as the Pats held on for a 10-7 victory in blizzard conditions over the Denver Broncos.

It is a record extending 12th Super Bowl appearance for the Pats, but their first since the legendary Tom Brady moved on having led them to their sixth NFL championship back in 2019. This year's title decider is also a repeat of the 2015 affair where the Pats took victory over the Seahawks to deny them the opportunity of picking up back to back Super Bowl wins and only their second ever trophy. This will be the fourth time that they have reached the showpiece Lombardi and they will undoubtedly be out for revenge in their efforts to take a second win.

With that entertaining day of action approaching and both rosters looking to put the cherry on top of their achievements so far, plenty of other sides in the league have been conducting post mortems after some of the woeful campaigns that they had, and as ever for this time of the season, the NFL's firing and hiring cycle is in full swing and we have already seen seven new head coaches take up new appointments.

The Buffalo Bills did not have too bad a year really, finishing second to the Pats in the AFC East table with a 12-5 record but they have just appointed Joe Brady to their role. This move has followed the Pittsburgh Stealers bringing in Mike McCarthy, whilst Jesse Minter has returned to the Baltimore Ravens with Robert Saleh heading for the Tennessee Titans. Completing the set are John Harbaugh at the New York Giants, Kevin Stefanski at the Atlanta Falcons and Jeff Hafley who has made the move to the Miami Dolphins.

At the time of writing three head coach vacancies exist – Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns, Las Vegas Raiders – but that certainly will not be the case as the next few days tick by. Plenty of NFL sweepstakes at this time of year.
