Good idea of where the polls are yes Govenor Palin has helped.
Polls will change but so far they have been really close. This is the first time McCain has pulled ahead.

All I hear from all of them if fluff and stuff...I am really disheartened with this election and the whole process. I know I will vote in November, but I don't see a single thing changing and it just is really a bummer. Not one of them really cares what we think! As soon as they get in office they will forget that we even exist.
People always talk about the separation of church and state and I think the bigger issue is the separation of the elected and the people they serve. They are all up in our face during the campaign and then we don't see or hear from them again until their 2/4 year term is up ~ I'm sorry, but something is wrong with this picture. Everyone of them can talk to me until they are blue in the face, but none of them understand the day to day troubles of the common man! Even if they have been there at one time, they are not now and have totally forgotten what it is like to live paycheck to paycheck. Common sense politics needs to make a stand somewhere and I don't see it anywhere in these elections...

well the polls will certainly change after the debates.. I dont see how Palin has helped. She hasnt really said anything. she isnt doing interviews. Which in itself is odd. What are they so afraid of? Her showing her total lack of knowledge about important issues like.. oh, I dont know.. foreign policy.
And I agree they forget about the little guy. I think its hard once they get in there to actually fight all the bureaucracy. And its hard to see where normal people are coming from when you have never had to worry about anything. Did you hear about the amount of money Cindy McCain's outfit was the night of the republican convention? roughly 300,000... Yeah, they understand not being able to make your mortgage payment or buy gas and groceries . wait, thats right.. Mccain didnt even know how many homes they own. :error:

I can certainly understand where you are coming from and yes politics will always be just that politics. They want our vote no doubt and it's hard when we know the country has a lot of things that need attention. The one thing I do like about Govenor Palin is that I can relate to the fact that she is somewhat like regular people and I can see her having lived pay check to pay check. We are deffinately not going to find that perfect person to fix the mess we as a country have all put ourselves in but we have to try and vote for the person we feel will do the best job.
You said yourself that you will vote so that's good that you are concerned about our nation. Just maybe try and vote your conscience. I mean it's both parties that have performed badly. Congress has an approval rating of 9% and it's a democratic congress. I guess I just have faith in our country and we will pull through somehow.
She will be doing her first interview but I forget with which network. It will be this week I believe

She's not that old so the elder situation is out. So she's got a superiority complex. Already. Depends on your definition of "help." Sarah isn't helping because people necessarily agree with her nazi-type views. She's simply helping because she's a woman. McCain knew there'd be people dense enough to equate her with Hilary. You know, Hilary being a woman and all. I'd give him points for smarts if I wasn't thoroughly disgusted and offended. Not to mention insulted and nauseous.

Lighten up, people. Some of these replies are not political discussion; they are an attack on the member offering an opinion. We all have our reasons for prefering one ticket over the other. I'm not going to tell you who I'm voting for or why. But I'm voting and hope you all do the same. Pick the ticket you like best. I would rather see this thread telling us why you LIKE your choice rather than how stupid you think everyone is who is voting for the other party.

When a battleship is taken out of active service, it is "mothballed". It is then sent back the shipyard, where it sits empty. Honestly, I'd rather not pull this thread. I would like to know why people like a candidate. Even what you don't like about a candidate would be okay. But making disparaging remarks about others for not liking the same candidate that you do, or not liking your reasons, is not cool.

I will say as far as both presidential candidates go I of course admire and respect John McCain for his service to his country. Country first and also because I feel he has the experience to make good judgment calls if needed. He has views that line up with mine because I support the republican platform. I am impressed with Palin because she has shown she has the experience to run a state and she is willing to cross party lines to try and also put country/state first. They compliment each other and I believe they would be the two to reform government. I also prefer McCain's plans like drill now and his medical plan.
As for Obama and Bidon I honestly think he needs more experience before he can be POTUS. His past track record in the senate concern me because he only voted present. For the most part anyways. Bidon is more along the lines of McCain's way of thinking even as far as the war in Iraq. Obama has based his campaign on change but in the last several months he has changed his mind and he now looks just like any other politician. His history with his friends has concerned me and his deciding not to take public funds when he said he would just shows untrustworthyness.
Well those are some of my opinions on both sides oh accept I believe Obama will raise taxes on the middle class also and not just the rich. Taxes will go up no matter what.
This has been an exciting race. A woman and an African American are ruining.

You know, this thread is exactly what is wrong with American Politics. Attacking the individual rather than the issue clouds everything. It's the same in the campaigns. Seriously, what do we really know about the candidates positions? What we do know about the candidates and about the members posting in her is what they don't like about others. I am really tired of this approach..
I too would like to know why people like their candidates of choice. As of now, I am voting for none of the above.

Wolfie I think it would be so wonderful if we could get to know what the issues are with the candidates and stop all the attacks. I hope that as the next couple months speed by we may have a clearer understanding of what they will do for us. Right now I think a lot of it is just trying to get our votes but if we can just get to the root of what they are all about then maybe we will be able to make an informed vote come November. Election years are always so crazy.

You're right, but they are really big IFS! We will never get the answers. And,even if we do, does it really matter. Honestly, how much can the president do without the support of congress.
What frustrates me are the electoral college and the concept of the super delegates. Honestly, I want my vote counted equally to yours. I want my reps to have the same say in our leadership as I do. Why do the superdelegates get to decide? I think our system is ridiculous. It is not a government of the people for the people. Honestly, it no longer exists.
Lately, all I can think of is the old Richard Pryor movie. "Brewster's Millions." I want to cast my vote for None of the Above! :headbang:
