The giveaway is a giveaway for the eBook Fallout by Liz Kay. The novel follows military families living in Benjamin Franklin Village, where family life becomes a vital front in the Cold War and a patriotic performance of the American way. Residents hold backyard cookouts, attend high school football games, and try to live as if they are not in a perpetual state of almost‑war, while outward smiles hide unhappiness behind closed doors. The story intensifies when the Vaughn family arrives: sixteen‑year‑old Samantha Vaughn, still reeling from her mother’s loss, is a wild child seeking trouble, and her father’s rank shields her from the consequences. Her social circle narrows to the prissy but pretty Becky Jennings and the surly, anti‑social David Williams, leading to dangerous frictions none of them recognize. Army wives Madge Williams and Abby Jennings are pulled from their ’50s‑era military culture into the modern age by Colonel Vaughn’s second wife, Joanne. As Madge pushes the boundaries of an unhappy marriage and Abby struggles to find her place, old loyalties keep Abby from seeing the threats surrounding her family and friend. A mysterious package left on a front step brings an explosive fallout that threatens lives.
The winner is picked at random.
